John Powell was a star basketball player at Oregon School for the Deaf in the 20's. His scoring exploits could only be described as prodigious.

As a junior in 1926-27, Powell poured in 464 points in 18 games for an incredible 25.8 points per game average. As a senior, Powell netted 170 points in 11 games for a 15.5 average.
All told, the high scoring Powell scored 787 points in 40 games in high school for a 19.7 points per game average. No official stats are kept but surely that is close to a record for that era.
John Powell, first worthy omission from an All-Decade team.
