District Tournament Project

I will use the occasion of the upcoming 2009 district tournaments to remind everyone of my “District Tournament Project.”

The OSAA does not have district tournament information on file at their offices. This is not unique to the 1A class, best as I can tell; none of the classifications have their district tournament information at the OSAA offices.

What I am doing is attempting to bracket ALL the district tournament brackets for the smallest classification from 1919 until present. You can see some samples of what I’m doing in the photos of this posting and as you can see, all are at different stages of completion. Some have more information than others. Look at the 1970 example and see that I know Prospect one the tournament and that it was an 8-team playoff. I know nothing else.

So, as you can tell, I need any and all information relating to district tournaments, county tournaments, playoffs and the like. Any information you have is better than what I have.

So, if you graduated from Elkton in 1981 and have yearbooks from your time at school, send me any information contained in the books about the district tournament…even if the information is only that Elkton won their first game over Camas Valley and lost their second game to Powers. ANY INFORMATION IS USEFUL!!!

I cannot stress this enough. If your son graduated from Powers in 1995 and you have his yearbook or newspaper clippings, send it along. If you coached at a small school for a time and have any information, please, send it along to help my cause.

Should I say it again? Do not be shy, ANY AND ALL INFORMATION, NO MATTER HOW TRIVIAL YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE, IS USEFUL!
